On behalf of the Loveland Police Department, thank you for taking time to learn more about our organization.

Our department is grounded in the six core values of Service, Transparency, Accountability, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence. These principles guide our daily decisions and actions, serving as expectations rather than aspirational statements.

Our presence across the city reflects a balanced approach to public safety—one focused on positive, proactive interactions alongside effective enforcement when the call comes in.  Every day, members of the Loveland Police Department commit to selfless service to our community, and this includes a strong emphasis on transparency. We want you to hear community news directly from us, as facts are important and must remain unsullied from biased sources. Our digital communications are read by millions each month, ensuring accurate information and timely updates reach those we serve.

Building and maintaining trust is an ongoing priority, and we actively engage with residents through listening sessions, small group discussions, and regular dialogue with local community and business leaders. These opportunities build understanding and strengthen relationships throughout Loveland. Each year, we recap the previous twelve months in "State of the Department” presentations to community boards, organizations, businesses, the Police Citizen Advisory Board (PCAB), and City Council members, valuing education and seeking feedback as a tool for continuous improvement.

Our success depends on the support of the community and the incredible people who serve within this department: from Patrol and Criminal Investigations to Records employees, our top tier Forensics team, Communications Specialists in our Emergency Communications Center who work around the clock, countless Volunteers, and every member of the community who helps us stand against criminal behavior.

My expectation of our department is simply stated in our mission statement: “We seek Justice, love Kindness, and walk Humbly.”

While there are times we all fall short, my prayer is we learn from our mistakes, and we embed integrity and excellence into everything we do. That goes for anyone reading this message, whether you work in public safety or not. Together, we are one community, one police department, and one team. We are united by a shared commitment to Loveland's safety and well-being.

It’s an honor to be your Chief of Police.

Chief Tim Doran
